Speaker: Greta Kessler, Vice President Employee Health & Benefits | Eastern Shore SHRM Legislative Director

Greta, a Vice President of Employee Health & Benefits, brings decades of experience in improving clinical and financial outcomes for her employer clients. Her focus is on customizing evidence-based population health and pharmacy programs to help employees reduce preventable diseases and effectively manage chronic illnesses. Greta believes in collaboration and leveraging the resources and talent at Marsh McLennan Agency to save money, improve lives, and create better value for healthcare plan participants and their families.

In addition to her expertise in employee benefits and workplace policy, Greta is also passionate about legislative advocacy. She has been actively involved in serving Maryland's HR community for many years, representing various client positions for organizations such as SHRM, CHRA, the Maryland Chamber, and the Maryland Retailers Association. Greta's advocacy efforts include testifying in Annapolis and she was invited to testify before Congress on employee benefit trends.

During her tenure as the Director of Government Affairs for the Maryland SHRM State Council, Greta played a key role in the passing of the "Workplace Violence Prevention – Peace Orders" legislation, which became law. This legislation provides employers with an additional tool to maintain workplace safety. Greta's work as the Director of Government Affairs also earned Maryland SHRM a prestigious national Pinnacle award.

Greta's dedication to improving healthcare extends beyond her professional role. She was appointed by the Governor to the Maryland Prescription Drug Affordability Stakeholder Council, which provides stakeholder input for Maryland's Prescription Drug Affordability Board. This board is the first of its kind in the US, focusing on improving access to and affordability of high-quality healthcare for Marylanders.

In her current phase of her career, Greta is focused on giving back to the community and supporting aspiring leaders. She serves on the board of Executive Alliance and as a mentor in EA’s year-long mentee program.

Greta is also involved in various charitable initiatives, including supporting animal welfare and visiting the elderly with her French Bulldog, Lily.

Greta's accomplishments and contributions reflect her commitment to improving healthcare outcomes, advocating for employee benefits, workplace policy and making a positive impact in her community.
